Defying Mainstream Typography
Brief:
To create a Modular Typeface based on forms and influences from a Designer (Wolfgang Weingart). Then create an exhibition poster using solely typography based on styles and structures that Weingart used.
Solution:
After researching Weingart, I found out that he created very structured designs and his work was highly grid based, new wave typographical compositions. I created a modular curved typeface using four elements and tested different layouts to present the exhibition information.
My final design aligns to a 45 degree angle grid using complementary colours for contrast. Weingart changed the contemporary style of typography snd pushed the boundaries for the better. The poster would be used as a promotional advertisement for a hypothetical exhibition that I appropriately titled 'Defying Mainstream Typography'.
